The project utilised the tools of Photoshop and Procreate to bring a conceptual live-action remake of the Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee video games to life through photo manipulation and compositing. The result were three stunning pieces that show the imagination and creativity of a potential live- action vision that stays true to the spirit of franchise.
One of the biggest challenges of this project was to reimagine Pikachu and Eevee as realistic animals without losing their iconic cuteness. I had to rely heavily on my digital illustration skills and use a variety of animal fur textures as references to create the illustrations of the two characters. I also used the eyes of rabbits, deer, foxes, and dogs to create a realistic look for the animals that would still keep their charming appearance. This process required a lot of attention to detail and experimentation to find the right balance between realism and cuteness.
I used the covers of the games ‘Let’s Go Pikachu’ and ‘Let’s Go Eevee’ as a starting point for the piece and tried to envision it as a realistic setting. I sourced photos of tall grass and fields to create a natural environment for the animals to inhabit. I also added various textures to create a sense of depth and realism to the overall pieces.
The final artwork bring the concept of a live-action adaptation to life and showcases my ability to reimagine beloved characters in a new and exciting way while still maintaining their soul.
