I have been working on a project involving PixelMax's fascinating solution for an accessible, Web2 and Web3 compatible metaverse based on URL and built in the Unreal Engine. After experimenting with their technology in a custom space called Serendipity, built for demonstration purposes at SXSW, I had the opportunity to provide suggestions to enhance the usability for players and inhabitants of the virtual world. One of the key proposals was the implementation of a Dynamic Menu, which would grant users access to various features and adapt according to the specific space they are in. The menu would include options such as avatar customisation, invitation capabilities, a world map, content display, wallet management, eCommerce integration, a guide, settings, and any other relevant settings specific to the space.
In addition to the Dynamic Menu, I recommended the inclusion of accessible Web3 integration within the menu itself. This integration would enable seamless interaction with Web3 technologies, allowing users to effortlessly engage with blockchain-based features and experiences. To enhance the overall user experience and make the transition to Web3 smoother for Web2 natives, I proposed UI tweaks that would align the interface with modern operating systems, ensuring familiarity and ease of use for both gamers and non-gamers.
Another significant enhancement I suggested was the implementation of a Live Map within the metaverse. This map would display the user's current location within the virtual world, providing spatial awareness, and also feature Fast Travel Points to enable quick and convenient movement between different areas within the space. Inspired by games like 'Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' and 'The Elder Scrolls,' I aimed to create a mapping system that was intuitive and familiar, catering to gamers and non-gamers alike while maintaining an efficient and user-friendly experience.
To showcase these proposed changes, I was tasked with designing a solution that would visually demonstrate how these features could be implemented. By drawing inspiration from successful open-world games and considering the needs of both gamers and non-gamers, I aimed to create a solution that was immersive, intuitive, and accessible, enabling users to navigate and interact with the metaverse seamlessly.
